Writer and Donor Relations Associate

The Shalom Hartman Institute seeks a Writer and Donor Relations Associate to join its global Development department. The position is 80% , based in Jerusalem.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, confident English writer, and creative problem solver who is passionate about securing philanthropic resources to advance the Institute’s mission to ensure that Judaism is a compelling force for good in the 21st century.

Responsibilities

  • Writing compelling grant reports and proposals to major foundations and funders
  • Producing program updates for foundation and private donors, one-pagers, and other donor-related materials as needed
  • Liaising with foundations, funders, and funder representatives in Israel and North America to steward relationships and grants
  • Researching potential foundation and individual prospects
  • Translating and editing donor-related materials as needed
  • Coordinating gift processing process: recording gifts in Salesforce, drafting thank you letters, sending letters and receipts
  • Maintaining Customer Relations System (Salesforce) activity for major funding relationships and new prospects
  • Planning and staffing support for donor events and VIP delegation visits to Israel
  • Special projects as needed

 Qualifications

  • Proven 4+ years’ experience in grant-writing, donor relations, and public relations with an international organization or Israeli non-profit
  • Excellent English writing skills; good Hebrew writing skills
  • Excellent verbal communications skills in English and Hebrew
  • Resourceful, self-starter with strong analytical thinking skills
  • Strong project management and time management skills, ability to multi-task and work efficiently to meet regular deadlines
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to elevate Institute’s fundraising strategies and activities
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  •  Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Salesforce or similar database management experience a plus; familiarity with wealth screening tools a plus
  • Knowledge of field of Jewish philanthropy and similar nonprofits a plus
  • Languages: English – mother tongue, Hebrew-fluent
  • BA / BS or equivalent
