Senior Development Associate and Community Leadership Program (CLP) Conference Coordinator

Position:

Senior Development Associate and Community Leadership Program (CLP) Conference Coordinator

The Shalom Hartman Institute (SHI) seeks a Community Leadership Program Conference Coordinator and Senior Development Associate to join its global development department based in Jerusalem. This is a short-term position January 2022- September 2022 with the possibility to grow into a full-time role. This role will report to the Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement (SVP).

CLP Conference Coordinator:
This portion of the role will focus on planning and executing, the Shalom Hartman Institute’s Community Leadership Program, a week-long, 200+ person conference in Jerusalem for North American and Israeli communal and philanthropic leaders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordination and Management
    • Manage the CLP conference team in advance of the conference and on the ground to implement the conference: Coordinate, collaborate, and lead a team of colleagues based in Israel and North America who will plan and execute the conference. Liase between Development/Program/Content/Operations teams to ensure smooth coordination across departments.
    • Create and implement relevant time-lines and work- plans to coordinate and confirm various conference components including: development components, operations, communications, marketing, recruitment, customer service, registration, content, and special events
    • Interface with and maintain relationships with conference registrants/participants, group leaders, board members and donors in the conference planning process
  • Recruitment, Communications, & Marketing: Implement outreach and recruitment plan to recruit target participants for CLP and adapt outreach as needed to broader audiences
  • Content & Program: Work closely with Content Advisor to map out and plan the CLP program schedule including faculty assignments, titles, and daily schedule.
  • Coordinate Development Events & Conference Components: Work with operations to plan; presentations, manage development meetings on site during the conference and liase with operations to plan VIP donor events

Senior Development Associate:

  • Stewardship/Donor Maintenance of North American and Israeli Donors:
    • Maintain communication and updates about SHI’s programs with current funders including board members, individual donors, major foundations
    • Plan and coordinate in-person donor and prospective donor visits to SHI programs including arranging meetings with SHI program directors and senior staff in addition to visits to see and experience SHI programs
    • Plan ‘virtual visits’ for stewardship for select board members and current donors with senior leadership
    • Coordinate and staff relevant development meetings with donors and prospects to take notes, and share important takeaways with SVP and document relevant information
    • Regularly review lists of outstanding gifts, prospects and donors and consult with SVP to arrange meetings with SHI senior leadership as needed
    • Review relevant reports, proposals and write new content as needed to support donor stewardship and maintenance activities
  • Plan and Coordinate Development trips for Senior Leadership: Work with SVP to plan potential meetings with major funders and prospects in key cities and coordinate as needed to plan and schedule meetings for North American trips

Qualifications

  • Experience and proven track record in advancing donor relationships and donor management
  • Project management experience in designing and leading leadership and educational conferences
  • Ability to work flexible hours and evening availability for virtual meetings
  • Excellent English writing skills; good Hebrew writing skills
  • Excellent verbal communications skills in English and Hebrew
  • Resourceful, self-starter with strong analytical thinking skills
  • Strong project management and time management skills, ability to multi-task and work efficiently to meet regular deadlines
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively to elevate Institute’s fundraising strategies and activities
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Salesforce or similar database management experience a plus;
  • Knowledge of field of Jewish philanthropy and similar nonprofits a plus
  • Languages: English – mother tongue, Hebrew-fluent
  • BA / BS or equivalent

Salary Range and Benefits: 12,000-14,000 NIS, commensurate with experience.
