The Shalom Hartman Institute seeks an Israel Grants Manager and Senior Writer to join its global Development team that is responsible for securing major philanthropic support for the mission and activity of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Israel. The position is 100% FTE and based in Jerusalem.

The ideal candidate is an experienced manager, comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced setting, who is a confident and efficient English editor and writer, as well as a creative problem solver who is passionate about securing philanthropic resources to advance the Institute’s mission to ensure that Judaism is a compelling force for good in the 21st century and promoting a pluralistic and tolerant Israel rooted in the core values of Liberal Judaism and Liberal Zionism. This role combines exceptional organizational management skills with the ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with professional colleagues across the Institute and shape compelling grant proposals and reports to engage and inspire funders from across the Jewish world.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee Grants Management:

1. • Research, identify, and pursue major grant opportunities from various foundations, Board members, private funders, Jewish Federations and select government agencies.
   • Coordinate the grant application process, ensuring timely submission of funder proposals/reports and compliance with grant requirements.
   • Monitor and manage grant timelines, reporting, and deliverables to maintain positive relationships with funders.
   • Maintain updated grants information on donor database CRM (Salesforce)

2. Proposal and Report Development:

1. • Write and edit grant proposals, reports, PowerPoint presentations and other fundraising materials, ensuring clear, persuasive, and impactful content.
   • Collaborate with senior program leaders to articulate program goals and gather necessary information and data, including financials, to support grant proposals and reports.
   • Tailor proposals to align with the organization's goals and the specific interests and mindsets of potential funders.

1. Senior Editorial Responsibilities:
   • Oversee the editorial quality of fundraising materials, ensuring a consistent and compelling voice that aligns with the Institute's mission.
   • Provide editing support for other written communications, such as donor updates, newsletters, and funder market-oriented materials.
   • Serve as a mentor to other team members, providing guidance on writing and editing best practices.

4. Developing a Cadre of Freelance Writers
   • Identify, recruit and provide appropriate support for pool of freelance English writers to support grant proposal/reports.
   • Coordinate and liaise between program teams and freelancers to source appropriate program data, stories, budgetary information, and impact statements.
   • Serve as editor and final quality control for final writing materials for submission to funders and fundraisers.

Qualifications:

• Proven track record in philanthropic grant writing for major organization and/or strategic communications, with a deep understanding of grant application processes and reporting requirements.
• Creative approach to storytelling and articulating educational and financial program information into market-friendly language suitable for diverse funder audiences
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with an eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality materials.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, donors, and stakeholders.
• Passion for the mission of the Shalom Hartman Institute and a commitment to advancing its goals.
• Highly-professional English language skills and advanced Hebrew language fluency to enable translation and editing of translations (Hebrew to English)
• Team player and comfortable working in cross-cultural environments
• Proficiency with CRM/Salesforce or other systems preferred.
• Familiarity with field of Jewish philanthropy, Jewish educational leadership and similar nonprofits a plus
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree is a plus.

• Balance of tight logistics and details, yet creative and able to reach the balcony for strategic perspective.
• Able to creatively conceptualize and articulate Hartman mission, activity, research and contextualize within an Israeli and funder context and landscape.
• Ability to travel within Israel and potential travel to USA/Internationally
